Straight Outta Compton Marketing Campaign Analysis

The movie 'Straight Outta Compton' can be seen as a independent movie despite the huge following and fan base behind the story of the film. The age demographic would be teens and adults due to the history and following of the rap group of N.W.A and each individual artist/actor, also gender would be any who are interested in old school hip hop and the culture of music and pop in general. The budget of the film was only 50 million, much lower then most films which is why i decided to label it as independent. Genres that can be associated with this film can be music, history, crime, drama and  biography. The plot of the film is about a new rap group N.W.A who create there first studio album, 'Straight Outta Compton', this album then creates controversy with its brutally honest depiction of life in Southern Los Angeles. The films characters consist of Jerry heller(Paul Giamatti), the groups manager and as for the group themselves, it consists of Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson Jr), Dr. Dre(Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E(Jason Mitchell), DJ Yella(Neil Brown Jr), MC Ren(Aldis Hodge), we follow these characters through the music industry, acquiring fame, fortune and how they now hold significant place in the history of music. From the characters you can see the film consists of well known and respected actors which could bring an audience in themselves as well as the films story/plot. The film is set in 1988 which could also appeal to an audience that appeals to vintage visual aesthetics.
